Blog-hopping:
a word that I wasn't even aware existed until I entered this crazy world of
writing. Now, less than two years later, not only am I familiar with the word,
but have actually participated in a few! So thank you, authorBarbara Lavifor offering me a chance to be a part of this blog-hop.
In this
post, ten questions were posed to me to answer about my latest work-in-progress
or upcoming release. The third and final installment in my suspense/thriller
trilogy,Eviscerating the
Snake, was released on October 30, 2012. The title for the last book is Adjusting Journal Entries but the
answers pertain to all three novels.
What is the working title/title of your book?
Adjusting Journal Entries - Book Three of Eviscerating the Snake.
Where did the idea
come from for the book?
The original idea for penning this series was simple: The Count of
Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I am a huge fan of classical literature and this
epic tale is my hands-down favorite. The concept of retaliating for heinous
acts is not something new to the human race. It is ingrained in our psyche.
While some have learned to overcome the primal urge to strike out
and hurt the person that harmed them, what if they opted to fulfill their own dark
fantasies of exacting revenge? What is true justice? Can it only come from the
law, or can it be meted out by the victim? How far from your moral compass
would you be willing to stray to seek it? And once the cycle of revenge begins,
when does it end?
What genre does your
book fall under?
Suspense/thriller for sure! I love to read a book that keeps you
on edge while you promise yourself 'just one more page and I'm going to bed'
then stay up all night finishing it. Based on some of the reviews of the first
two books in the series, I believe I achieved that.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a
movie rendition?
I love this question but it is so difficult to answer, simply
because we all have our own perspectives of what we envision the characters to
look like. I have my own personal opinions of actors/actresses I would love to
see play the roles, but I will leave that decision to Hollywood and be happy
with whomever they pick!
What is
the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Will the cycle of revenge continue with new players at the
table, or will vengeance destroy them all?
Will
your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I admit it: I am a control freak. My second novel in the series,
Zero Balance, was originally
published by a small publishing house. However, I regained control and now have
the full rights to it once again. I discovered that I prefer being an ‘Indie’
author because I want to hold the reigns to my destiny.
How
long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Three months of many sleepless nights!
What
other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I hesitate to answer that, simply because I
believe that each author’s works are personal expressions of their own mind.
While some writing styles may be similar, all works are like fingerprints—full
of subtle swirls that make them distinguishable from another. If something in
my work touches a reader in a way that reminds them of the style of another
author, I leave that up to them to make that correlation.
Who or What inspired
you to write this book?
My fans! To say that sounds trite I know but it
is the honest truth! After the second book was released I realized I actually
had fans that wanted to know what happens to the characters, which meant I did
my job as an author. People connected to these fictional people and were
genuinely interested in reading the ‘end’ and that was a truly humbling
experience.
What else about your
book might pique the reader’s interest?
This series deals with real-life issues that happen,
unfortunately, all the time in the viscous place we call the world. Rape,
betrayal, lying, cheating, using others to obtain your own satisfaction, and
even murder are topics touched upon. Each of us has experienced, or knows
someone who has, at least one of these devastating incidents. The question this
series ponders is simple: what would you do if faced with the same situation?
If everything you loved was gone and the world as you knew it suddenly became
unbearable because of the violent actions of another, would you consider
becoming judge and jury? If most of you reading this were to be honest, I bet
the answer is yes, at least in your mind but perhaps not in action. But what if
you did decide to seek justice on
your own? Would you give pause to the after effects of your plans or would you
become single-minded in your obsession to destroy those that hurt you and not
contemplate the consequences?

"A ray of light, a stain of shadow, shall endure to breath life and death into the future"
The war between the Guardians and the Shadow Riders ended
in total devastation. The final battle killed all the dragons and left nothing
but fields of ash. A small clutch of dragon eggs was all that remained to
provide hope for the future.
Five hundred years later, the ability to use magic is a death sentence and dragons are remembered as a curse. But the unhatched dragons sing for their riders...and soon six lives will be changed forever.
The elements of magic are drawn together as the dragons' call leads them on an epic and dangerous journey of discovery. They soon learn everything they've been taught to believe about magic and dragons is wrong.
With the last of the dragons and the world at stake, they will risk everything to heed the call.
But an evil from the past soon threatens their discovery and newfound joy. Shadow Dragons ride the dawn once more...
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT EMBERS AT GALDRILENE
“Evil lurks at every corner and eventually
bursts, bringing forth a vivid confrontation that kept me at the edge of my
seat, turning page after page.” ~
Annamaria Bazzi
“The characters are well thought out, and the plot is great.
I loved Galdrilene itself, and the idea of the dragon eggs singing to those who
are meant to hatch them.” ~ The Crooked
Word
“I was so impressed by this excellent story! The characters
and setting were vividly detailed, and the storyline was unique and enticing. I
loved that the characters had strong bonds and connections to other beings, and
Trosper did a magnificent job with pacing and stringing together the plot.” ~ Katie Jennings (author of the Dryad
Quartet and When Empires Fall)
“There is something about dragon stories that is truly
captivating and Trosper has certainly encapsulated this in her novel. This
story follows the lives of young men and women as they escape a life of control
and fear to find their true talents and true selves… Expect to be entertained
with dragon fights, romance and witty comebacks in Trosper's creation of an
idyllic world. You are even given a rare insight into the workings of a
dragon's mind.” ~ Elizabeth Wright of
Bestchicklit.com
“Anne McCaffrey's Legacy… I was
extremely wary when this book was immediately evocative of every story Anne
ever told about dragons, their 'Impression' on their destined riders, and the
immutable bond between the two. Like Asimov's laws of robotics, Pern's dragon
lore is indelibly etched as 'fact' in my psyche and anything markedly different
does not sit very well with me at all. I am immensely pleased to say that A.D. Trosper
did not let me down. There was enough of Pernish dragon-lore to satisfy my need
for continuity, whilst at the same time enough differences to make this clutch
of dragons her very own. Well done Ms. Trosper!” ~ Richard King
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Here is where I'm supposed to
talk about myself in third person for whatever reason. But, even though there
are a lot of people in my head, referring to myself in third person still
sounds too strange.
Born in Kansas, I spent a lot of my
childhood moving around. I lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, Washington State (around
Seattle), and southern California. I had many great adventures growing up. I'm
now settled down in Kansas with my wonderful husband, three children, my
wonderful dog Katie, assorted cats, and small flock of chickens.
I've been an avid lover of
fantasy since I was young child. Dragons, elves, fairies, dwarves, and other
denizens of the fantasy world as well as magic have always fascinated me. As I
grew up, I developed an interest in vampires, zombies and my interests branched
out to take in paranormal and urban fantasy.
I don't have any special writing
credits to my name other than a wildly active imagination and the ability to
form that imagination into written stories.

A random phone call can change everything in the blink of an eye. Sometimes, the ringing of the phone brings painful moments. Notification from your doctor as you await test results. A friend calling to tell you about the demise of their marriage. A long lost family member contacting you out of the blue, desperate to reconnect.
But sometimes, an unexpected call is game-changing in a good way. I found myself on the receiving end of just such a call last week.
On October 30, 2012, I was a guest on ArtistFirst Radio for the second time in 2012. The interview was only an hour, but it was quite fun as we discussed my latest release, Adjusting Journal Entries. I enjoyed the banter with the host, Tony K, and once over, continued on with promoting my latest novel.
Then, three days later, the phone call came, and I almost didn't answer it. You see, I was at work and at first, didn't recognize the out-of-state number. But, at the last minute, I remembered that was the same area code that called me for my appearance on ArtistFirst, so before the last ring, I answered. On the other end was the station owner, Scott.
He introduced himself and told me the reason for his call. Apparently, Tony K enjoyed my guest appearance on the show so much that he approached Scott with the idea of me hosting a show on ArtistFirst. Once I gathered my wits about me and wrapped my head around what Scott was offering me, the detailed discussion began about me stepping up to the plate and moving from BlogTalk Radio to ArtistFirst.
And so I have. Now, each Sunday night at 8 pm EST/ 7 pm CST, I will host a one hour show on ArtistFirst, "The Ashley Fontainne Show". My first guest on December 2, 2012 is none other than NY Times Bestselling author, Janelle Taylor. On December 9, 2012, my guest will be NY Times Bestselling author Raymond Benson. (Yes, that Raymond Benson--can you believe it? I'm nervous already!)
My BlogTalkRadio show will continue on in the hands of my great co-host, Bennet Pomerantz. His show segment, ANYTHING GOES, will still grace the airwaves. And, I will continue on with BlogTalk through my last booked show in December while I transition over to ArtistFirst.
Once again, opting to publish my work on Amazon has moved me in directions that I never thought I would take! To know that I will have the opportunity to be a part of the family at ArtistFirst is mind-boggling. I hope that each of you reading this will tune in to the shows and enjoy them as much as I will enjoy hosting them!
Sometimes…Revenge Is A Bitch – The
Long-Awaited Finale “Adjusting Journal Entries” Is Available Now!
The many facets of revenge are explored in this series. In the
first novel,Accountable to
None, the heroine experienced numerous life-altering events that set her on
a course for revenge. The termrevenge
is a dish best served coldhas
never been more accurate. The flawed protagonist waited five years to wield her
sword of vengeance and her rewards were sweet and fulfilling.
In the sequel,Zero
Balance, the aftereffects of obtaining revenge are explored. Oftentimes
while one is plotting and planning the downfall of others by making them
accountable for their actions, they can suffer tunnel vision. They don't stop
to consider how their actions, even if morally justified, will touch others.
The quote by John Milton fromParadise
Lostis in the beginning of
Zero Balance and speaks this truth: “Revenge, at first though sweet,
Bitter ere long back on it self recoiles;”
The third and final book,Adjusting
Journal Entries, touches upon the depth of madness that anger and pain can
drive someone to. How much emotional pain and heartache can one human being
endure before their sanity breaks and they become a killer?
Revenge is a normal human response to physical and mental pain.
I would imagine that most of you reading this have, at one time or another,
experienced a moment where you wanted to make someone pay for the pain they
caused you. The players in this series do just that--they live out that dark
fantasy. Unfortunately, the repercussions are tremendous.
I invite you to explore the world of revenge in this series.
All books are available in eBook and print book on both Amazon
US and Amazon UK.

"...I truly enjoyed it and recommend it to all who enjoy a fast, intriguing and entertaining story with a little mystery thrown in for good measure." - Midwest Book Reviews Senior Reviewer and author Joan A. Adamak

Several wonderful bloggers are hosting me to help with the re-release party. Numerous questions were asked and my fingers are STILL bleeding from answering them all, so please take a moment to visit these great blogs and read some of my answers. And don't forget to register for a chance to win one of two signed copies of Accountable to None.
Before I go, I want to thank the incredible team at Blue Harvest Creative for all of their hard work. They took my vision and ran amok, then brought me back something astounding that far exceeded my expectations! Their professionalism and creative design capabilities left me stunned and in shock...which doesn't happen to this rambling mad southern woman often. They didn't just throw a few ideas in my direction, hoping I would pick one. They asked to read the book first to absorb the full experience of the story, which gave them the insight needed to create this amazing cover. What they presented to me is polished perfection that is worthy enough to not only stand out but take center stage on any bookshelf in the world. It is more than eye-catching and could easily be the poster for a movie.
When I created the book trailer, I used the picture of the woman with the green eyes and the hand of silence covering her mouth because it is a powerful image. So, when the first round of potential covers arrived in my inbox, imagine my surprise when I noticed the same pair of eyes graced one of the concept covers! And no one at Blue Harvest Creative had watched the video. Why is that important, you ask? To me it proved that the design team not only read the book but understood the concepts and my vision. It is rare that you will find such dedication and commitment to achieving such high standards.
If you want to take your work to the next level and are looking for a team that will work with you from start to finish, then contact them at the link above. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Of Time and Place by B.R. Freemont was passed along to me for an honest review by the author. This was my first political thriller to read and review and I must say, I was a bit doubtful in the beginning about reading this particular genre and almost passed up the chance. I am so glad now that I decided to read it since it was such a pleasant surprise.
Before I get into my review, here is a bit about the book:
As the global energy crisis of the 21st century wears on, James Lendeman searches for answers-both for the country and for himself. Working in the Federal Energy Department for the iconoclastic and enigmatic Kate Hastings, James is at the center of a world of political intrigue and personal conflicts. Unsure of whether he can go along with Kate's plans for the country (and for him), he is forced to steer his own way through a maze of personal and professional problems. When we James a few years later (through author B. R. Freemont's ingenious weaving of dual timelines), he is in Savannah, working as a contractor for the government and debating the merits of a flirtatious college student who lives in his boarding house. Nimbly moving forward and backward through James's personal timeline, Of Time and Place leads it readers on a journey through twists and turns of life in a kind of historical novel of the future. From a tumultuous romance and marriage to a romantic spring in Florence and the adversities along the way, James finds himself debating both his own life and the feasibility of maintaining a viable US economy in the mid-21st century. Drawn from very real issues of global import, and playing out in some of the most storied cities in the world, Of Time and Place will leave every reader pondering the future-and the present.
James Lendeman is a very intriguing character that is set on helping the world solve one of its most difficult problems: the energy crisis. In light of the current troubles our world is experiencing with this issue, the story is very timely. What will happen in the future, and how can individuals, like James, help solve the issues now, before it is too late? How much of his time will be devoted to this task, and at what cost to his personal life?
B.R. Freemont answers these questions in a story that jumps between time as the reader takes the journey into the life of James. We meet a cast of interesting characters, including his boss, Kate Hastings, artfully written as a strong, female lead. As James meanders his way through life, we are right there along side him as he deals with not only the energy crisis, but personal struggles as well.
James is a conflicted man on so many levels who discovers that finding answers to the energy crisis might be a easier than understanding the complexities of relationships.
This novel was well written and full of interesting plot lines that kept my rapt attention after the first few chapters.
Tony Hooper stands in shadow across the street, one amongst many in the crowd of curiosity-hounds gathered to watch a monster’s release. Seventeen years after Mitchell Norton, “the devil,” terrorized
Algonquin, Illinois on a spree of kidnapping, torture and murder, the authorities release the butcher from psychiatric prison.
Tony longs to charge across the street to destroy Norton—no remorse—as if stepping on a cockroach. Only sheer force of will prevents his doing so.
“The devil” walks the world again. What shall Tony do about it? Aye, what indeed.
After all, this is what he does. It’s who he is. “The devil” himself long ago made Tony into this hunter of monsters. What a sweet twist of fate this is, that he may still, finally, administer justice.
Will FBI Special Agent Linda Monroe stop him? She owes him her life, so how can she possibly put an end to his?
Tony Hooper and Mitchell Norton battle for supremacy, with law enforcement always a step away, in this story of justice and vengeance, evil and redemption, fear and courage, love and loss.
My review
5 *****
Psychological thrillers are my kind of books! Not only do I write them, but truly enjoy reading one that makes my skin crawl, my nerves skitter with fear and my heart thump a tad louder. This incredible novel by Lane Diamond handed me ALL of that, in spades!
The story is told in bursts from the main two characters, switching deftly between 1978 and 1995. The long road and deep ties between the hero and the villain are interwoven with intricate detail. The sickening forces that bound these two together for life kept me glued to the pages and the way the author links the life of the hero, Tony, to the demented stalker/killer Mitchell, was fascinating.
My heart ached for Tony and I could instantly bond with his character as he was transformed, through no fault of his own, into someone he never dreamed he would be. The atrocities that he suffered in his early life lead him on a path of revenge, not only for his brother Alex, but for his damaged psyche as well. Although we aren't provided too deep of a glimpse inside the home life that created the killer, Mitchell, we are guided just enough through his world to understand that he is a sick, twisted soul, almost as if he was born that way rather than made that way.
The ending is a perfect way to ease the reader down from the intense, page-gripping high that the author just yanked them through, leaving the option wide open for a sequel. Out of all the books I have read this year, this one just launched itself to #1 for me!

About the author: I write fiction, long and short. My writings cross over
many genres and focus on diverse subjects, ranging from the mysteries of the human mind,
with its fragile psychological and emotional states, to the everyday joy and anguish of life
on Earth. Ultimately, characters move me – as both a reader and an author. It's all about the
people. When not writing, I'm Publisher and Executive Editor at Evolved Publishing. Connect
with me on my website, Facebook, Twitter, GoodReads,
or via Evolved Publishing.
