Author Interview Questions:
1. What kind of books do you write and how many have you written so far?
I’ve written in a numerous genres: romantic suspense was my first novel, but right now I’m focused on mysteries and thrillers.
To date, I’ve completed seven novels, all at various stages of editing. Three will have been completely edited and published by the end of 2011.
Ties that Bind, the first in the Madison Knight series released the end of May 2011. Eleven, a FBI thriller released November 11, 2011. Justified, the second in the Madison Knight series, will be released this December.
2. When is your next book being published?
December 2011.
3. When did you start writing?
I used to write as a teenager but it got pushed to the background. It wasn’t until about four and half years ago I rediscovered my passion for writing and it became a serious aspect in my life.
4. How did you get into writing, and why did you pick the genre that you currently write in?
I wrote as a teenager, mostly novellas and poetry.
The reason I’m drawn to write mysteries, thrillers and suspense is because that is the genre I prefer to read and watch. I love intrigue and figuring out the clues.
5. What is your creative process like?
As for how I go about developing a story, I’ve found that by interviewing the characters before setting out to write a novel has helped immensely. This allows me to know the characters from the first word instead of just discovering things along the way. This process also makes for relatable characters. As a writer because I know the characters I can envision how they will respond to different situations.
I’m not a writer who outlines their books, but am a panster. I love to follow the characters through the story. While I set out with what I want accomplished in a chapter or scene, I allow the characters to take me on detours. This creative process has made for some excellent scenes.
6. Who is your favorite author, past and present, and why?
I’ll pick two: David Baldacci and Sandra Brown.
I’ve learned a lot from both of them. Baldacci develops characters thick with description and Brown writes what I dare to.
7. What motivates you to continue writing?
First and foremost my readers, and second it feeds my soul.
8. How do you get ideas for your stories?
It all depends. Sometimes the inspiration comes because a character strikes me and insists I tell their story. Other times, inspiration springs from something I’ve witnessed either in my personal life or while watching television type of thing. It can be completely random incidences that spark a novel idea.
9. If you didn’t become an author, what do you think you would be doing now?
I cannot imagine my life without writing in it.
10. Tell me about your latest book.
Brandon Fisher always wanted to be FBI, and at the age of twenty-eight has made Special Agent. Transferred from his hometown of Sarasota, Florida to Quantico, Virginia he is teamed up under the lead of Veteran Special Agent Jack Harper of the Behavioural Analysis Unit. With a temper normally close to the surface, Brandon has to learn to keep it under control because Jack tests his limits at every possible moment. And with the first case taking them to Salt Lick, Kentucky and the discovery of underground burial chambers, Brandon must confront one of his greatest fears – claustrophobia.

11. Your movie has made it to the big screen! Tell me, who would you want to play the key characters?
Oh, my heart palpitated just from reading the first sentence of this question. If we were talking Madison Knight from my mystery series, I’d say Maria Bello. I’m not certain about the characters in Eleven.
12. What’s the worst experience and best experience you ever had as a writer?
My best experience has been self-publishing, and I’m fortunate enough that I can’t really think of a horrible experience.
13. Where do you see yourself in five years with your writing and your life?
Hopefully, my writing will support me so that I can do so full-time.
